Desktop Engineer Support Tech Internship Job Description
 
In partnership with the Department of Information Technology and 
Telecommunications-311 (DoITT-311), the CUNY Institute for Software Design 
and Development (CISDD) has an exciting internship position available for 
CUNY students.  The internship will be at DoITT-311 offices in NYC and the 
position is categorized as a Desktop Engineer Support Technician intern. 
 
Although the location is at DoITT-311, this is considered an on-campus 
position.
 
Qualifications for DoITT-311 interns:
 
Current CUNY registered student
Available to work 19 or 28 hrs/week during the school year, 34 hrs/week 
during the summer and winter breaks
Available to work weekends
Authorized to work under INS laws for on-campus jobs
 
Requirements / Responsibilities 
 
Job description: 
 
Provide level two desktop support in a Windows XP environment for the 311 
Call Center. Responsible for hardware and software maintenance, upgrades, 
computer rollouts, RIS imaging technology.  Technicians support multiple 
sites and travel to sites inclusive of mail migration to outside City 
agencies.  Create and maintain new user accounts, have extensive knowledge 
of Active Directory structure.  Work closely with server engineers to gain 
knowledge of network topology, profiles and exchange tasks within a 
Windows 2003 backend environment.  Document and post procedures to the 
share point portal used as a tool to educate fellow team members and 
enhance the knowledge base.
 
Pay Rate:
 
$11-12 per hour plus benefits to those that qualify
