Computer Science Gets Practical: Unique Solutions at Google Featuring Raymond Blum and Salim Virji, Google Google has realized a new scale and scope of computer systems architecture. This has introduced problems for which the solution cannot be "Googled" or found in the repertoire of any team member. Come hear how Google has taken classic computer science techniques down from the ivory tower and applied them to real world problems. Raymond and Salim will discuss some of these problems and explore the techniques used to solve them. Thursday October 25 3:00 ? 4:30 P.M. CUNY Graduate Center Room 4102 ("Science Center") Raymond Blum has been a software developer, system administrator, instructor and network security consultant for over 25 years. He is currently employed in the Site Reliability Engineering division of Google, which keeps the various Google products available, reliable and responsive. Salim Virji has written code and carried a pager for Google since 2003. Prior to that, he worked as a software engineer in Silicon Valley, a systems engineer in Pittsburgh and a sanitation engineer in Chicago.
