In partnership with the Department of City Planning (DCP), the CUNY 
Institute for Software Design and Development (CISDD) has an exciting 
internship position available for current CUNY students. The program 
allows students to receive practical hands-on training and experience 
while assisting DCP in achieving their long-term technical objectives. The 
internship will be at DCP offices in NYC and the position is categorized 
as a GIS intern.  Although the location is at DCP, 
this is considered an on-campus position. 

Candidates Must Be: 
Current CUNY registered student 
Available to work 19-25 hrs/week through 4/31/08 and possibly beyond 
Pursuing of a degree with a concentration in Geography/GIS   
Authorized to work under INS laws for on-campus jobs 

Skills needed: 
Knowledge of Windows 2000 and MapInfo 
Extensive knowledge of GIS with preference given to GE Smallworld, and the 
Department of City Planning's Geosupport System 

Job description: 
Under supervision, but with broad scope for independent initiative and 
judgment, the intern will: 

*Use a variety of geographic resources including aerial photography to 
gather data and come to conclusions within the DCP LION 
regulations of implementing graphic changes. 
*Perform all areas of research, coding, and updating in compliance with 
Data Management Unit (DMU) practices. 
*Maintain and enhance existing custom applications. 
*Perform a variety of validations weekly to maintain database integrity. 
*Monitor, detect, and correct errors, both graphic and non graphic 
according to DCP practice and maintenance of the LION file. 
*Inform supervisors, both LION supervisor and DMU supervisor biweekly and 
monthly of progress, indicating percentages of work completed, 
and to be completed through use of a spreadsheet. 
*Immediate notification of errors not easily correctable. 
*Participation in complete training process. 
*Perform other related tasks 

Pay Rate:  $16 per hour

The Office of Financial Systems and Analysis (FSA) within the Bureau of 
Finance and Planning, designs enterprise-class financial systems, prepares 
routine and special reports, and manages enterprise data for the Bureau of 
Finance and Planning. FSA provides management of information systems and 
reports that define the financial status of the Department of Health & 
Mental Hygiene (DOHMH). 
The Office of Financial Systems and Analysis is seeking to fill a vacant 
Certified IT Administrator position. As a Database Developer you will, 
under the supervision of the LPPP MIS director, perform tasks related to 
the development, implementation, maintenance, procedures, and functions 
using SQL Server 2000/2005. Duties include, but are not limited to 
developing, designing, implementing, enhancing, maintaining and analyzing 
database systems, queries, and procedures. The candidate will also be 
responsible for reviewing and developing detailed system specifications 
and modifying existing systems to accommodate changing business needs.

Preferred Skills:
Minimum 3 years experience hands-on database administration/development 
using SQL Server 2000/2005; knowledge of table and stored procedure 
design, performance tuning, SSIS, SSRS; experience with data integrity, 
transactions, data retention, backups, and disaster planning; excellent 
verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work 
independently and collaboratively; excellent analytical, organizational, 
and interpersonal skills; and, the ability to analyze and understand 
complex business processes. 
Experience Required:
Professional/vendor certification(s) in database administration 
(Microsoft) is required for this position. 

In addition, all candidates must have the following:

1. A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and two years of 
satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) experience in database 
administration planning, design, configuration, installation, 
troubleshooting, integration, performance monitoring, maintenance, 
enhancement, and security management; or

2. A four-year High School diploma or its educational equivalent and six 
years of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) information 
technology experience of which at least 2 years must have been as 
described in (1) above; or

3. A Masters degree in computer science or a related field from an 
accredited college may substitute for one year of experience. However, all 
candidates must have at least one year of satisfactory full-time (not

to join our programming team to develop Windows/Web applications and

The Certified IT Developer will perform tasks related to the development

not limited to, developing, implementing, enhancing, maintaining and 
analyzing software systems. 
The prospective employee should be at an expert level in several of the 
following concepts/technologies: Power Builder; Windows based application 
development (VB NET); Web-based application development (ASP.NET); 
Enterprise Service Bus, XML, XSLT, database management systems (RDBMS), 
and SQL. 
The candidate will also be responsible for reviewing and developing 
detailed system specifications and modifying existing applications to 
accommodate changing business needs.

Preferred Skills:
