IT Manager Internship Job Description
 
In partnership with the Kings County Public Administrator, the CUNY 
Institute for Software Design and Development (CISDD) has an exciting 
internship position available for CUNY students. The program allows 
students to receive practical hands-on training and experience while 
assisting the Kings County Public Administrator in achieving their 
long-term technical objectives. The internship will be at the Kings County 
Public Administrator offices in Brooklyn and the position is categorized 
as an IT Manager intern.  Although the location is at the Kings County 
Public Administrator, this is considered an on-campus position.
 
Qualifications for Kings County Public Administrator interns:
 
Current CUNY registered student
Available to work 19 hrs/week during the school year and possibly 34 
hrs/week during the summer and winter breaks
Authorized to work under INS laws for on-campus jobs
 
The Kings County Public Administrator is responsible for administering the 
estates of county residents who die intestate and either leave no known 
heirs or leave heirs who are not qualified or willing to administer an 
estate. The Kings County Public Administrator also administers an estate 
if neither the executor nor any eligible beneficiary named in the 
decedent?s will is able or willing to serve.
 
Responsibilities:
 
Specific responsibilities will include: Installing, maintaining, 
monitoring, backing up and supporting the production and development 
environments; supporting the production and office network infrastructure; 
ensuring the availability of the production system; troubleshooting and 
resolving any production issues, as well as user issues; providing 
comprehensive support for all internal employees (desktop support, IT 
server support). The IT Manager will assist in defining the information 
needs of the agency and be responsible for development and design of 
systems as required to meet those needs; and will serve as the liaison 
with New York City and New York State IT governmental agencies as needed.
 
Experience and Qualifications:
 
The IT Manager will have two or more years? experience in the following 
areas: 
design, implementation and administration of a Microsoft Windows 2003 
Server Edition-based network utilizing Active Directory and Microsoft 
Windows Operating System; 
desktop support for Windows XP Professional, Microsoft Outlook 2003 and 
Microsoft Office 2003; 
TCPIP, DHCP, DNS; 
Microsoft SQL Server (stored procedures, transact SQL and relational 
database concepts); 
phone systems configuration including voice mail; 
maintenance of technology security in a legal office environment; 
scanning technology; and 
Symatec?s Norton Antivirus Enterprise Edition.
 
The qualified applicant will possess a high degree of assurance with 
office based applications; will have the ability to install new servers, 
desktops and ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs.; will be 
detail-oriented; will be able to work individually and as part of a team; 
will be able to work under pressure and maintain professionalism; have 
strong communication, interpersonal and training skills; will have a 
desire to learn new and/or unfamiliar technologies
 
Pay Rate:
 
$11-13 per hour
